All year. Mamey is legendary among Latin Americans. This football shaped fruit has coarse, brown, leathery skin. Mamey yields to a gentle squeeze when ripe and has a salmon-orange, sweet fragrant flesh. Mamey is popularly used in shakes, fruit salads, cooked in desserts, or eaten raw with cream and sugar or various liqueurs. STORAGE: Once ripe, mamey can be refrigerated for a few days.
