All year. Seedless limes have been grown in Florida since the 1500's. They are now quite popular and enjoyed nation wide. Lime juice is used in drinks, salad dressings, squeezed on tropical fruits like papaya and mango to enhance flavor and sprinkled on fruit to prevent browning. Wedges are served with fish and poultry dishes. STORAGE: Limes stay alive at 55 degrees F. May be refrigerated for a week in a plastic bag. DISPLAY: Alone or alongside other citrus for colorful contrast. NUTRITION: High in Vitamin C, a good source of fiber, low calorie and no sodium. |
